What is this qualification?
The Swim England Level 1 Swimming Assistant course is the first step towards becoming a qualified swimming teacher. The course is designed to introduce aspiring swimming teachers to the basic principles of teaching. This qualification will enable you to become a swimming teaching assistant. In order to become a fully qualified teacher you must complete the Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification. What is covered in this qualification? Preparation for teaching/coaching activities, delivery of prepared activities within a session, roles and responsibilities, health & safety in the aquatic environment, effective communication. It is Swim UK’s policy that all learners read Swim England’s syllabus prior to the start of the course. If you cannot access it through this link, please contact Swim UK. How is the qualification assessed? This qualification is assessed through both written and practical assessment tasks. There is no exam. Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Please contact us if you believe you may be exempt from parts of this qualification due to other training, qualifications or experience you have gained previously. A copy of our RPL policy along with an application form will be sent to you. |
Pre-requisites
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved. Therefore, it is recommended for learners to have Functional Skills in English pitched at Level 1. How much is the course? £425.00 per person. How to Pay? Results Once you have successfully completed the course, results can take up to 12 weeks to be processed. Certificates will then be sent out to your home or work address, as listed on your booking details. Funding This course can be funded through our Adult Education Budget Funding. The eligibility criteria for our online courses are: 1. Aged 19 (or over) before 31st August 2021 2. Lived in the EU / UK for more than 3 years 3. If employed, earn less than £17,374.50 4. If unemployed, claiming benefits (such as Universal Credit) How to apply for funding?
