What is this qualification?
This is the first step towards becoming a swimming teacher and is designed to introduce aspiring swimming teachers to the basic principles of teaching. This qualification will enable you to be a swimming teaching assistant. In order to become a fully qualified teacher you must complete the ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification.
What is covered in this qualification?
Preparation for teaching/coaching activities, delivery of prepared activities within a session, roles and responsibilities, health & safety in the aquatic environment, effective communication.

How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed through both written and practical assessment tasks. There is no exam.
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Please contact us if you believe you may be exempt from parts of this qualification due to other training, qualifications or experience you have gained previously.
A copy of our RPL policy along with an application form will be sent to you.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved. Therefore, it is recommended for learners to have Functional Skills in English pitched at Level 1.
