What is this qualification?

Gives successful candidates a nationally recognised qualification. Demonstrates employer’s commitment to health and safety, and helps reduce risk by ensuring staff are able to recognise potential dangers. Minimises the risk of litigation by ensuring employers and employees understand their legal responsibilities.

This course is relevant to all employers who need their staff to understand how to ensure their own safety and that of customers, contractors and the public. It is also suitable for individuals wishing to control and reduce risk in the workplace.

How is this course assessed?

The course is usually run over a full day. Assessment is via a multiple-choice paper at the end of the course. Certification requires 100% attendance.This course is assessed through practical demonstration and oral questioning. There is no exam.

Pre Requisites
  • All candidates must be 14 years of age or over.

There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved. Therefore, it is recommended for learners to have Functional Skills in English pitched at Level 1.
