HABC Food Safety - Learn how to make changes to catering practices for improved safety.
What is this qualification?
The aim of the Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering is to provide candidates with knowledge of the basic food safety practices that are essential in the catering industry. This includes the hazards and risks to food safety presented by food operations and personnel, together with cost-effective, practical control measures.
What’s covered on this course?
The qualification is designed principally for food handlers working in catering, or people planning on joining the industry. It is also appropriate for people providing services to catering premises, for instance maintenance engineers, cleaners, and delivery personnel.
How is this course assessed?
The course runs over a full 8 hour day, 09.00 - 17:00. Assessment is based on a multiple choice paper at the end of the course. Certification also requires 100% attendance.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved. Therefore, it is recommended for learners to have Functional Skills in English pitched at Level 1.
