What is this qualification?
This qualification is for teachers with a Level 1 coaching award who are looking to further their knowledge in swimming coaching. Learners will be able to plan and deliver training plans within the context of macro cycles, to swimmers who are at a competitive level. Learners will also gain an insight into principles of coaching and sport science.
What is covered in this qualification?
The ASA UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming comprises of eight units. Units 201-204 are common units which are generic across all Level 2 QCF Awards, Units 205-208 are more focused on the technical aspects of the discipline and its delivery, and therefore units 205-208 for this qualification are focused on the technical application of coaching swimming.
201 - Understanding the fundamentals of coaching/ teaching sport
202 - Understanding how to develop participants through coaching/ teaching sport
203 - Supporting participants lifestyle through coaching/ teaching sport
204 - Understanding the principles of evaluating coaching/ teaching practice
205 - Plan a series of swimming coaching sessions
206 - Prepare the swimming coaching environment
207 - Deliver a series of swimming coaching sessions
208 - Monitor and evaluate swimming coaching sessions

How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed through both written and practical assessment tasks.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved. Therefore, it is recommended for learners to have Functional Skills in English pitched at Level 1.
Learners must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of the learning programme.

Once you have successfully completed the course, results can take up to 12 weeks to be processed.
Certificates will then be sent out to your home or work address, as listed on your booking details.

1. If you are 19 years of age or over and claiming benefit you may be eligible to receive the course for free! Click here for details.
